Obituary of Arthur H. Marooney
Arthur "Artie" H. Marooney, 62, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016, due to heart failure. Arthur was born March 30, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY, the second of four children by Charles Edward and Margaret Rosemary Gilroy Marooney. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1971, and was married to Nora McGlynn with whom he had one child, Elizabeth Nora Marooney. Arthur retired from the Laborers' Local 6A Concrete Workers Union, later residing in Lighthouse Point, Florida.
Arthur is survived by his daughter Elizabeth and her daughter Nora; his sister, Margaret; his brother, James; his grand-children Nicole, Christopher, and Phillip; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Margaret, his sister Mary, and his wife Nora.
Artie will be remembered as a generous and kind soul, having made a positive impact on innumerous lives throughout his days. Known for his sharp wit, caring and friendly demeanor, and a genuine concern for the well-being of those who surrounded him, he will be dearly missed by all those that were fortunate enough to cross his path.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 4 from 2pm to 5pm and from 7pm to 9pm at the Marine Park Funeral home in Brooklyn, NY. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, February 5 at the Shrine Church of Our Lady of Solace in Brooklyn, NY at 10am with burial in the St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, NY.
