In the TV show This Is Us that I've been following there's a character who ever since the first glance has reminded me of Louie---he's tall, good looking, easy to like and has a cleft in his chin. It had been 30 years since moving from Brooklyn and even longer than that since last seeing Louie. Like most retirees I often wonder whatever happened to so and so. Thank goodness for Google, right? The downside is that at my age one has to be prepared that search results might not be what we'd hoped for. Sure enough I found and read this obit, which saddened me. Even though we didn't do much habitual hanging around together, the Louie I will always remember is a guy who's fun to be with. I can't imagine anyone feeling otherwise. And after all, if not for our memories, what else do we have?

To all Desiderio Family Members,
I just learned of the loss of cousin Louis and although many years have passed since we were together a real sense of sadness envelops me. My condolences to Joanne and Vicki and your families. I trust Louis is a a better place now surrounded by his family and other loved ones lost too quickly. Dear Joanne and Vickie,
I am sorry for you loss. Please accept my sincere condolences.
I admired Louie. He and I were very close when young. In the summers of 66-67, we would hitch hike to Riis Park beach nearly every day. We listened to the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band Album for first time together in Louie's garage. He literally gave me the shirt off his back once, Literally. Crazy story but true. All fond memories. Louie was a great guy.
