Our deepest heart felt sympathy & condolences to Alice, his beautiful wife and family.
Jim, was a special person. Although I only saw him once a year at our U.S.S. Missouri Association Reunions, it was a wonderful pleasure to fellowship with him for those few days. Jim was a good man, but more than that he was a Godly man. Jim loved the Lord Jesus, his family and his friends and he made that very apparent. As Chaplin of the U.S.S. Missouri Association we will remember his commitment to God, his family and friends. June & I will surely miss him too. So long friend, until we meet on Heaven's shores. Rev. Eugene & June Land

When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. May you take comfort in knowing that you have an angel to watch over you now. I extend my most sincere condolences to you and your family.

Dear Alice and family,
I am very sorry for your loss. Both you and your husband were wonderful neighbors to my parents. You were both there to support my Mom at the time of my Dad's passing. I will never forget your kindness to my Mom, always asking for her and giving her the prayer shawl after she was admitted to the Nursing Home. Even up to December 2015 before we sold the house you always stopped and asked about my Mom and told me to take care. My prayers and thoughts are with you and your lovely family. I am sure your son Jim met his father as he entered the gates of Heaven. Love, Kathleen Cully

We were shipmates on the battleship USS Missouri BB-63. Jimmie joined me to supply all the technical and mechanical replacement parts required of this great ship. We traveled the oceans and visited lands all over the earth. Serving our country and enjoying the peoples of many nations carrying good will friendship. Some 40+ years later he joined at the veteran organization of the Mighty Mo and served as officers and Executive Board members. He and his wife Alice brought friendship and a helping hand to his shipmates and their spouses. May he rest in the arms of the Lord. We were blessed to know him.

Jim was more than my Missouri shipmate, he was a dear friend to both me and Raye.
We love Jim and it is difficult to think of him in past tense. He touched both our lives and we will never forget him. He was my Recording Secretary for the USS Missouri Assoc. and always gave me his honest opinion even if he knew I didn't agree with him.
Raye and Jim would often talk about religion, Jim being Lutheran and Raye being Catholic yet they both enjoyed their talks and how much they both love their Savior Jesus Christ. What will we do without him? Life goes on but it will never be the same without our dear friend telling me to turn the air conditioning lower while I had a sweatshirt and a sweater on.
RIP dear friend. Jack and Raye

I worked with Jim for approximately 10 years. He was a wonderful man to work for. He was supportive and always had a funny story. In a way he was like a second father to me. I loved the wooden reindeers and sleighs he made. He was a very talented man. I loved him and will never forget him. As I told him in our last call together, "he as the best boss-man ever!". He will be missed.

Uncle Jim, so glad I walked back and knocked one more time a little louder and you were able to answer last month. You made a great impression as I expected you would on my son Noah and he will never fughettaboutit the time he met uncle Jim. Conversation was about how proud you are of family, your best golf shot ever, business and more importantly how to close a deal. Deepest sympathies and thoughts to aunt Alice, my cousins Christine, Eugene, Philip, and Steven and all the extended Woods family.

A message to my grandfather, as his handsome picture makes me feel like I'm talking with him:
In all my life I'll never know anyone else as wonderful, wise, or loving as you. I am so lucky to have called you my Pop. These last few months have left me restless, unprepared for a world without you in it. I have woken many nights wondering if I had forgotten to tell you something, ask you one last question, or give you one last hug and a kiss. My memories have brought me back to your voice, "come sit on Pop's lap!" or days playing with your watch, resting my head on your chest. I realize now that I would always want more and I can only be grateful that you are at peace. Pop, I promise to keep you with me in my heart and always on my mind -- for conversations at the dinner table, reminiscing about the good old days and how our family came to be. I'll think of you when I need strength and pass on your wisdom for future generations to come. You are not gone from me at all. I love you. I'll see you now in rainbows.

We are so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He was such a sweet man. Always so kind to my children, even when we fell "off the grid" for a while.
Our prayers are with his immediate family and his very large extended family. May he rest in peace
