I have never seen so many show up for a wake....the line wrapped long around Quentin Road, everyone waiting patiently to pay respects to a great guy. I will miss his hearty "Hellooo Tom!" to my husband as we walked in each time. This one's for you, George.

I was deeply saddened to hear of George`s passing. Rocky Sullivans and especially George are very special to me. George was one of the most kindhearted generous people I ever knew. He always helped the Kings Courts Softball league. I always looked forward to going to Rockys after the games. As a fellow Jet fan we shared the same misery. Red Hook lost a very special person. Everytime I walked in I was greeted by George "JOHN MY FRIEND". I have not gotten to the new place but will go and hoist a few in Georges honor . Our championship trophy is in Rockys I will drink and remember my friend George. Rest in Peace and Thank You Geore You Will Be Missed..

Hello.
We participated in a few of the "Hockey at Rocky's" dek hockey tournaments and even had the honor of interviewing Mr. Kornienko about his love of hockey and his generosity in running his tournaments. Good men like he was are needed in this world and George is and will be sorely missed.
Sincere condolences to George's family. May George rest in peace and his legacy live on forever.

I came to know George from his days at Rocky Sullivan's on Lex. To say that he had mad bartending skills, would be an understatement. As I got to know him and we became friends, I realized that he was just one of those people who attracted friends from all walks of life. He was good to his core and everyone who knew him knew that about him and knew that they could count on him. What a ray of sunshine he was - thanks for all the good vibes George - what an amazing joy-spreading life. You will be missed!!

Although I did not know George as well as others, I considered him to be one of the kindest people I have ever met. He always wore a smile and had a cheerful disposition. The bounty of obstacles he encountered never stopped him from being the ultimate gentleman. George will be missed, by my husband and me, as well as everyone I know that was ever luck enough to have known him.
God blessed us all when he made George.

I had the pleasure of working with George many years ago, in the first Rocky Sullivans in Manhattan, we became good friends as a result. And without doubt I have to say he was one of the most honest and kind men I ever met in my life. I am over twenty years back in Ireland and met George twice in that time, he was special to me, we enjoyed music, stories and most of all good conversations. He is truly a loss to you his family and to the world at large, simply because he was unique, there was only one George, and all of us who were lucky enough to have known him, were privileged. I would love to have met him one more time, but it was not meant to be. So please say goodbye to him for me, and to you his family I offer my most sincere condolences on your great loss and ours. May his gentle soul and kind heart rest in the peace of heaven forever, until we are all reunited once again.

I knew George from the original Rocky's Sullivan's back in the mid-90s.. He was such a lovely, genuine person. I used to go in on my own a lot and he always made me feel welcome and at home. Some of his hilarious antics at the bar will forever stay in my memory.
I had some friends in from Dublin who were in a small band who were due to play a gig in Rocky's and the dates just weren't working out. George stepped in and gave them a gig in Marty O'Brien's without hesitating. He really saved the day. This was a typical example of George's kindness....he was truly one-of-a-kind and will be missed by all. My deepest condolences to the entire family for your loss.
