Dear Erika and family,
I'm very sad to hear of the passing of Dr. Albert Ashforth, a colleague and friend.
I'm so very sorry for your loss. He was a great colleague in the Humanities Dept. at the Manhattan School of Music, where he was the Department Chair. He always gave generously of his time, provided insight on teaching, and encouraging words. I remember his sense of humor as well as his calm manner and clarity of expression. Over the years, after we both had left the School, he sent kind notes to me and my husband and also updates on his publications, which I appreciated. I'm sorry not to have written him to thank him for keeping me in mind.
I was awed at reading briefly here about his work in difficult and dangerous wartime locations--demonstrating his bravery and knowledge in many fields.
You are all very fortunate in having had such a gentle, wise husband, father and grandfather with many excellent qualities. It is such a great loss, I'm so sorry.
