Obituary of Barbara Walsh

Barbara Ann Olsen Walsh died peacefully on March 24, 2018 with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was 83.  The daughter of the late Fritz & Mary (Michaelsen) Olsen of Oslo, Norway, she was born December 18, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY. 

After graduating from Fort Hamilton HS in Bay Ridge, Barbara enrolled in nurse’s training at The Brooklyn Hospital and served her community as a Registered Nurse from 1954 to 2005.  Barbara’s favorite field was obstetrics and she specialized for many years in maternity and delivery. 

Devoted mother of Susan (and Ian) Boyle and Steven (and Stacie) Walsh.  Dearly loved grandmother (“Baba”) of Emma Boyle and Timothy Boyle. 

Barbara loved quilting, sewing, knitting and photography, and leaves many beautiful works of her hands with her grateful family.  Barbara was an animal lover and contributor to many worthwhile causes, such as the North Shore Animal League, ASPCA, Doris Day Animal Foundation and the Humane Society.
