I knew Catherine when we first met at the after school Directors conference. I travel with her to and from on the train and she was such a lovely woman. I was so shocked to hear this news I haven’t seen her now for about two years she will be greatly missed amongst all the afterschool directors in New York City

Dear Roy, Erin and Kirsten,
I wish you all the strength and the love to deal with the loss of your wonderful partner and mom.
Whenever I was around NYC the Samuelsen house has always been a wonderous welcoming place for me to stay, a home away from home some might say. It feels like yesterday walking down the squeaky stairs and finding your mom on the couch browsing through the New York Times on her iPad. Dear memories I have walking with her to the Catskills Bagel Company or to the Picket Fence for a great breakfast or dinner together.
They might feel like little things however they have always been great ones to me. They gave me the feeling of being at home in NYC which is still my favourite place to visit. It has shaped me because she introduced me to going out to breakfast which was/is not really a thing in Dutch culture. But every holiday I do this now as I like the feeling.
Cathie will be cherished in my memories which she has enriched in so many ways.
Thank You,
Jeroen 'Dutchie 2' Janki

I am so deeply sorry for your great loss. I met Cathie at P.S.130 back when you, Erin were in kindergarten with my daughter Evelyn. I never forgot her throughout the years even though we did not stay in touch. She was a wonderful, warm person.
My condolences to the family.

We are so sorry for your loss. Catherine was our son’s first teacher at Parkside. She was loving and nurturing to all the preschoolers. During our son’s days at Parkside we became close to Catherine. She always told us stories about her husband and daughters and their wonderful summers away at camp. Luckily for us we were able to reconnect when she came to Berkeley Carroll. She will be so missed by all. Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time.

Hi,
My deepest sympathy. I am a Berkeley Carroll parent of a high schooler but remember Catherine and all she did for my daughter in the lower school. What a fabulously kind person.
Hugs to you all.
