We played softball together at the old fields in Marine Park. i remember how you used to watch me bat so you could hit the ball over the fence like I did. We were students at James Madison high school. We watched movies at Kings Plaza and Kings Highway. We bowled together at the lanes. We had great pizza at Armondo's on Kings Highway. We took classes together at John Jay College. I remember walking through the old Times Square with you after classes at John Jay, and taking the D train back to Brooklyn. We had some long and good talks about life. I would get off at Newkirk Ave and take the M train to Avenue M. You would wave and smile cu later John. You had such a gentle way about you. I was shocked when you told me you were going to be a Police Officer. With everything else you did, school, softball, you did it well. Life led us to different paths. You were one of the best kids I grew up with. Goodbye old friend. I will always remember you Joe from Marine Park.

I know Joe and his beautiful family for the better part of 25 years. Joe loved his family, his friends and was always there for his colleagues. He dedicated his life to public service, and worked tiresly to give a voice to those victims of crime that have none.
The City of New York and Marine Park has lost a great, great man.
Rest easy brother...

Joe,
I remember when we were rookies together. That was so long ago, but it seems like yesterday. Those were amazing times. I loved working with you, you were always fun to be around. We had lots of laughs, but when things got a little tense, you were right there, always having everyone's back. It was an honor working with you. Rest in peace my friend, until we meet again.

May the blessings of Almighty God be upon the Calabrese family, to strengthen them during this most difficult time.

For the short time I got to know you, I knew you were a great person. You had a good heart, great pride and an amazing family. Whether it was playing softball, leaf blowing the yard, or cleaning the pool, I always had a reason to be around. You were a great man and so much fun to be around. You will be missed so much by everyone who has had the privilege to be in your life. Thank you Joe for all the memories. Rest in peace.
