Obituary of Delia Mary "Bridie" Cameron
Delia Mary "Bridie" Cameron (nee Carney) formerly of Cloontumper, Co. Mayo, Ireland went home to the Lord at the age of 85 to be reunited with her husband Patrick and two sons, Dennis and Kevin, and all of her dear family and friends who went home before her.
Bridie is survived by her son Charles, daughter Carol Ann and her son-in-law Stanley. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Stephanie and Amanda, great-grandsons, Christopher and Julian, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws. She is the sister of Mary Cunnane, the late John Carney and Helena McDermott.
Bridie was born on February 4th, 1935 to Michael Carney and Bridget (nee Brennan). She traveled to the U.S. in 1953. She met and married the love of her life, Patrick, in 1957. They lived and raised their family in Brooklyn, NY. After the passing of her beloved husband in 1989, she continued to be the center of her family and friends’ love and respect. Bridie always had an open door and open arms to her family and large circle of friends, often hosting celebrations in her home.
Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY on Wednesday, May 13, 2020.
A Memorial mass and celebration of Bridie’s life will be held at a later date. Time and place to be announced.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
