Obituary of Carlos Powell

Carlos J. Powell passed away peacefully due to natural causes on February 7, 2021 at the age of 56. Son of Carlos Powell Sr. (deceased) and Hilda Davidson he was born in Manhattan on March 19, 1964. He was the dear brother of William, Danielle, Eric, Nelly, Darlene, James, Homer and Janet. Carlos was an adored Brother in Law and a cherished Uncle to all his beloved nieces and nephews. Carlos was a loving father to his adoring cats Jean et Claude. He was a cherished friend to so many. Many of Carlos’ treasured friends were truly a part of his family.   

Carlos was a remarkably talented, compassionate and kind person. He was a lifelong musical theatre lover and performer. As a young child he began participating in child theatre groups and even then, he was a star. His incredible gift for performance was loved by so many people. Throughout his life he continued to perform and create original music. Carlos’ love for performance and music knew no bounds. 

Carlos’ beautiful soul touched so many people. His smile lit up a room and many hearts. He was truly a light and a source of joy for all who knew and loved him. Carlos’ love for life shone through all he did. For many years he worked in sales and was adored by his coworkers and the customers he worked with. Carlos was an amazing chef, photographer and musician. His creativity, his humor, his passion for the arts and beauty was evident in everything he did. 

 

Carlos is a popular YouTuber best known for his channel Brooklyn Fragrance Lover. Viewers felt "he had an aura and energy that made you felt like you knew him". Fans of his channel said, “your kind heart always emanated through the screen, so authentic, positive and with a great knowledge in fragrance,” “You always exuded such warmth, knowledge, class, fun, sarcasm and kindness in your videos. You made us feel like we knew you intimately and were family. Best smelling guy in the room, always upbeat, kind and generous”. Carlos has been written about in several magazines and is known by many throughout the world. His vibrant personality and passion for life touched the lives of many, and we will never forget the moments we shared with him.  

 

“Rest in Peace to such a dynamic person that made a huge mark in his life”. Carlos your smile was so bright, your heart so pure. Fly with the angels we will love you forever.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May Carlos' soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Reposing Tuesday, February 16 from 4:00 - 9:00 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home, 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn.

Family and close friends are invited to join the Mass of Christian burial held on Wednesday, February 17 at 9:45 AM at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 1950 Batchelder St, Brooklyn. 

Burial to immediately follow. 

For those who can not pay their respects in person, please join Carlos' family for a virtual prayer service at 4:30 PM on Tuesday, February 16.
