Just found out about Joe's passing. I used to jog with Joe around Marine Park in the 1990s, a really friendly and outgoing guy, everybody knew him. He was a friend to me when I really didn't have any, consoled me when my Mother passed in 1997. Always a smile and a friendly word or joke. A real character and a great guy. I left Brooklyn in '97 but always wondered about Joe, wondered if he and the other firefighters I jogged with survived 9/11. This is really a shock, he was much too young.
My sincere condolences to his family and many friends.
