I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. major in 1965 when I got married. My mom took me to his meat market and introduced me to him. He cut my pork chops and steaks to my satisfaction. I would go in once a week and he was always a pleasure, like we had been friends always, never treated me any different. Sometimes I would send my husband with a note and he always sent my meats by to perfection. When my family and I moved to Cambria Heights in Queens I would visit every month for him to cut my meats. We moved to Virginia in 1990 and I have never found a butcher. RIP Mr. Major, you will surely be missed. My condolences go out to the family. May God give you His comfort and peace.

Our deepest condolences to Mrs. Prince, Brent and the entire Prince family. Growing up in Brooklyn at the St. Columba Parrish and little league, Mr. Prince was a “Major” influence in all of us neighborhood kids lives. My late Dad Artie Rohrbacher and he were close friends. Now they’re running the Men’s Club Picnic in Heaven. Rest In Peace Mr. Prince.

I can write on and on about this man whose name is Jimmy. He was the MAN of Coney Island. Every since I was a little girl, my mom, who lived in Seagate always ordered her meat from Jimmy. I can remember when we had no way of getting our order picked up, he would personally deliver it to our house, no matter what the weather was. That included snow storms. He always wanted to satisfy you, no matter what it was. He wrote orders on paper, and God only knows how he kept up with all the scrap paper, and so many orders. This man did it all, and when I say "he did it all" he did. He used to come to my house late at night, and I used to say to him "JIMMY GO HOME, IT'S LATE". However, he had to finish his orders for the day. I remember seeing him at the other place where he worked. I said to him "you never quit, do you?" He said, he was not ready yet. One thing I must say, is he made the best burger patties I have ever eaten. Wish I knew his recipe. Jimmy, you were Coney Island, and will always be known for the MAN OF CONEY ISLAND!! God gained an amazing angel. RIP my friend, and cook those burgers!!!
My sincere condolences go out to his entire family. You were blessed!!!

My grandmother told me stories of Jimmy delivering to her in Sea Gate when he was a delivery boy. Our relationship with Jimmy spanned four generations. To this day I have never been able to find a roast beef like the one Jimmy wrapped in fat and string. I used to take my son into the store 40 years ago....and no matter how busy Jimmy was he managed to make my son a smiley face in a piece of bologna. His kindness and warmth will always be his legacy. My sincere sympathies to all his loved ones.....Jimmy was really a PRINCE!

Would like to thank the Prince family for sharing Jimmy with the Coney Island community. He connected and cared for people in a unique way and will be missed by all. Everyone who crossed paths with Jimmy walked away with a smile and a story ~ I don't have to tell you he was a special guy. Any conversation with Jimmy had kind words and memories bout Coney Island and his family, his kids, which he was very proud of. Rest in peace James and condolences for the family and friends.

Dear Barbara and family, I am so sorry for your Great loss. Jimmy was one of the nicest men I have known. I loved reading some of the many comments on Facebook a few years back (when I was visiting Facebook more often), it sure was obvious how much he was loved and admired by everyone who knew him. I sure wish I could have had more time to get to know him better but I’m am grateful for the few times that we were all able to get together.
God Bless, Mary Vierow
