Obituary of Robert Stapleton
Robert Stapleton
January 20, 1940 - August 16, 2021
We are sad to announce the passing of our father, Bob Stapleton. He was born January 20, 1940, at the “Landmark” 419 16th Street, Brooklyn to late John and Mary Stapleton. Beloved brother to the late Joan, the late John, late Leonard (Muriel), the late Eddie, the late Kenneth (Patricia Mitchell) and Mary Gladd (the late William).
Happily married for 54 years to the love of his life the late great Arleen Cunningham, a legend in her own mind. Father to Robert O., John Thomas, the late Kathleen Agnes, and Patricia Anne Jablonski. Father-in-law to Mark Jablonski and Craig Bugbee. Cherished Papa to Edward, Abigail, and Fiona. Son-in-law to the late Thomas and Agnes Cunningham. Loved brother-in-law to the late Thomas (the late Rita), the late John (the late Anna “Sissy”), Kathleen Parsons (George), the late William (the late Carol), and Owen James (Elizabeth “Chickie”). Proud uncle and godfather to many nieces and nephews. Cousin to many in the Stapleton and Greene families.
Bob welcomed new friendships that lasted throughout many years. Kind and helpful to his East 8th Street neighbors and faithful parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Brooklyn. Mr. Stapleton was loved and revered by friends and family alike.
Robert, John, and Patricia appreciate the outpouring of love, admiration, and always humorous stories that spoke of Bob’s light-hearted nature. He was a proud graduate of Chelsea High School and New York Tech. Bob proudly served his country in the US Army. He worked for American Airlines until working with the NYPD in the 67 Pct. After retiring, Bob worked for the Department of Defense until he retired again to spend time traveling with Arleen.
Bob was always up for a fun time, would enjoy an opportunity to have a laugh with friends, and spending time with his family & grandchildren.
Rest In Peace
