James Joseph Bonamassa, age 85, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 23, 2022. James “Jimmy” was born on June 19, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York. He is the son of the late James Bonamassa and the late Frances Di Martino. Brother of Nicholas Bonamassa (Barbara). He was married to Joan Latella for over 10 years with whom he shared three children with and later married the late Marie Stiuso. Loving father of James D. Bonamassa (Janet), Gina Bonamassa Pepe, and Joanne Benasco (Tommy). Cherished grandpa of Domenica Stasiak (Steve), the late James Bonamassa, Daniel Bonamassa (Kimberly), Anthony Bonamassa, and Angelica Bonamassa; Jennifer Landry (Arnold), Jacqueline Pepe, and Joseph Pepe (Kristen); Thomas, Anthony, Daniel, and Christine Benasco. Great-grandfather to Joseph Stasiak and Nicholas Bonamassa; Felicity, Victor, and Molly White; Jude, Emersyn, and Lucas Pepe; Sierra Benasco, Andrew and Alyse Landry. Beloved Uncle to Nicholas Bonamassa (Andrea) and Stephen Bonamassa (Evonne).
Jimmy grew up working in his family's shoeshine store on Church Avenue.
Proud retired Brooklyn bus driver for over 40 years. Jimmy remained active until his final days driving the streets of Brooklyn to visit his 20-year life partner, FiFa Molinari. Also loved by her children, John and MaryAnne Molinari; Teresa and David Moore; Grandchildren Steven and Laura Molinari; Elizabeth, Mary, and Sarah Moore. Jimmy was a loyal family member and friend to everyone he met. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Western movies, Yankees, and Saints games, among other sports. His unmatched sense of humor will be sadly missed by all who met him.

The visitation for Mr. James Bonamassa will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Saturday, March 5, 2022, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a Prayer Service at 11:00 AM. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 12:00 PM. The burial will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island.
