Obituary of Patricia J. Maguire

Patricia J. Maguire, 86, of New York City, died March 19, 2022 after a long illness.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Patricia was predeceased by her beloved parents, William and Julia, and two brothers, Raymond and William. Patricia was loved and is survived by several generations of nieces, nephews and cousins around the country.

Patricia graduated St. Joseph's College in Brooklyn, NY, with a Bachelor of Arts degree. For many years, she was the class representative for St. Joseph's Alumni events. She also attended New York University earning a Master of Arts degree in Vocal Guidance in Education.

After graduating, Patricia had a long career working for the New York State Department of Labor where she rose to Manager of Unemployment Services.

Patricia loved to sing. When she was younger, Patricia was a congregant of St. Boniface Church in Brooklyn. While there she became a member of the Gregs, a choir dedicated to bringing the a cappella beauty of the Gregorian Chants to their audiences. Later, while residing in Manhattan, Patricia was a devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Church where she sang in the choir, was a Eucharistic Minister and involved in the church's community outreach program for the homeless.

Patricia loved NYC, its fine restaurants, and cultural opportunities, all within walking distance. She had a passion for travel and was blessed to be able to see most of the great cities and countries of this world during her lifetime.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:45am, March 23, at Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church, 1950 Batchelder St., Brooklyn, followed by internment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn. Should you wish to do so, you may leave your condolences on the tribute wall of Patricia's obituary page.
