Roger was my uncle. He was the greatest uncle because of the person that he was. My memory of him from my youth is very vivid because of his outgoing nature. He was always telling stories or just being funny. He seemed to be the life of the party at family functions. He was always there for his family and never complained about anything. If someone needed help, he was there. The same can be said about his life of service to the New York City Fire Department. He sacrificed his own safety in the name of public service. When I was a kid, he would come by my house in his fire truck and let the kids on the block sit in the fire truck. also got to visit him at his Fire House and got to play with all the equipment. I'm sure that had something to do with me becoming a police officer. Thank you for all of my positive childhood memories. You will be missed. And I know I will see you on the other side. I'll look for you in the fire house.......
