Obituary of Joan Hodges

Joan Hodges passed away on September 17, 2022 in her Brooklyn home with her daughter, granddaughter, and great-granddaughters by her side. Joan was just shy of her 96th birthday on September 28th this year.

Joan was the beloved widow of Gil Hodges, and cherished mother of Gil Hodges II, Irene Hodges, and Cynthia Hodges. Joan's youngest daughter, Barbara Prestianni, passed away five years ago. Joan's greatest joy in life however was her eleven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Joan spent a lifetime loving baseball and everything creative including the arts, music, drawing, and painting. She was an avid patron of the Metropolitan Opera House. With great joy in her later years, she continued to follow NY Mets baseball and remained an ardent fan!

Joan will be dearly missed by her family and all those whose hearts she touched throughout her years.

The visitation for Joan Hodges will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, from 2:00 to 7:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at 10:30 AM - the family will be gathering at the funeral home by 9:30 AM. The Committal Service will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery.
