Obituary of Theresa Sapienza

Sapienza, Theresa - passed away on September 25, 2022, age 95, of Brooklyn, NY. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Sapienza. Devoted mother of Francis (Valentina), Paul (Jackie), Michael (Grace), Catherine (Albert) and Steve (Jamie).  Cherished grandmother of Lucas, Nicholas, Daniel (Nicole), Kenneth (Lindsay), Joanna, Thomas, Paige, Zachary, Samantha, Shanna, Makayla, Michael, Amanda, Alexa, Joseph, Jack, Peter and James. Adored great-grandmother of Andrew, Jonathan and Scarlett. Dear sister of the late Elaine, the late Margaret, Georgette, the late John, and Annette. Also surviving are many relatives and friends. 

Tessie, as we lovingly called her, was born in New York on February 28, 1927 to the late George and Rose (Ouellette) Dionessiou.  She met her beloved husband Joe at Emerson, a manufacturing company, and they later married on February 2, 1952. They raised five children in Brooklyn, NY and were later blessed with 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. 

She enjoyed working at Nellie Bly. She loved the Yankees, Elvis, Gone with the Wind and any type of sweets that came her way. Above all, she loved being surrounded by her family; laughing, making dinners and celebrating life. 

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, September 29, 2022 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Marine Park Funeral Home; 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, NY 11234. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, 2022 at 10:30am at Sacred Hearts and Saint Stephen Church; 108 Carroll Street, Brooklyn NY 11231. Interment will follow at The Cemetery of the Resurrection, 361 Sharrott Avenue, Staten Island, NY 10309.
