Obituary of Josephine Jemma Tacconi

Josephine Jemma Tacconi peacefully left this life to join her Savior Jesus on December 9, 2022.  She was 88 years old. This Brooklyn native is survived by John, her loving husband of 67 years, her two devoted sons Len and Peter, her loving daughters-in-law Kathy and Diana, adored grandchildren Kerilyn, Bob, Michael (& wife Melissa), Kristen (& husband Ben), John (& wife Amanda), Nicholas, and Christopher, and her great-grandchild Carter.  Her loving sisters Lucille Sorrentino and Diana Cuzzolino also survive her.    

Known affectionately as Jo, she was a pioneering woman in the banking industry in the 60’s & 70’s.  She joined Manufacturers Hanover Trust (now Chase Bank) as a secretary and retired decades later as a Bank Officer serving her customers in various branches in Bensonhurst and other Brooklyn neighborhoods.  

As important as career was to her, faith, family, and music were paramount.  Trained as a classical pianist from age 6, Jo took great pleasure in sharing her gift of music with others.  Her playing was inspiring.  In addition, nothing pleased Jo more than preparing and sharing a gourmet Italian meal (laughter always serving as the main course) for those she loved.   Jo also enjoyed serving others as President of the Golden Age Society at St. Bernard’s. 

Jo was always at her happiest around family.  Getting hugs from her grandchildren was very high on her list of life’s joys.  

Her unending faith has given her family comfort knowing that she is reunited with loved ones and no longer enduring any suffering. 

Services will be held in Brooklyn.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 from 2:00 – 7:00 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home, Inc., 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, NY 11234.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 14 at 9:00 AM at St. Bernard’s RCC, Brooklyn.

Entombment to immediately follow in St. John's Cemetery, Middle Village.
