Lizzie was a lovely lady and a generous soul. I recall her visit to us in Washington DC, after which she sent a home-made wheat pie as a thank-you gift. She had a real talent for cooking. I'm glad that, at the NYC Board of Ed, she was able to share that gift with others.

Liz and I have known one another for 71 years and were more like a brother and sister. We lived near each other, attended St. Francis of Assisi school, spent major holidays together and vacationed throughout the North East, Mid-Atlantic, New England & Canada with her brother, Michael; my mom drove and Liz's mom, Grace, was a side-kick-like Lucy Ricardo & Ethel Mertz. Liz, Michael and I were 3 Musketeers.
We were there for one another through the tough times in our lives: my parents death, Michael and Grace's & Joe O'Brien's passing.
But for the most part, when we talked on the phone or saw one another, we loved recalling our memories and adventures.
Liz is with her beloved brother, Michael now and her suffering has ceased.
I will see Liz again but for now, may she Rest in Peace.
Love-Johnny Lazar
