To my dear 'other' family The Smiths, it is my pleasure to say a word to you. You were blessed with a precious soul for a mother, Nonie, the gracious lady who "always" smiled. I believe Nonie smiled in her sleep. I loved her because she was unpretentious, real, even when she had to correct us she was gracious. I was a child growing up with her children, but Nonie didn't treat me like a child, she treated me like a person, a person with value and worth, the treatment that I needed in order to develop what God had placed in me to perform on this earth. Also, because she believed the Word of God, I also believing the same, I could respect and trust her words to me. It never mattered about denominational differences. We knew and never discussed that denominations are man's doings, and nothing different than 'points of view', providing the main point, "Jesus, who he was (is), "the Son of God," why he came to earth, why he died, the fact that he rose from the dead triumphant, returned to the Father God, and is going to come again for those who have believed on him as their savior and Lord is the Truth, and the theme. It didn't / doesn't matter who congregate on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday or any other day. It doesn't matter if you eat chitterlings, pork and beans or not. It's all about believing in the sacrificial death of Jesus, so . . . I'll never forget my friend, other mother, Nonie, because she was 'real', gracious and an 'example of the believer'. She was not 'religious' (using the true definition of the word, religious). I know we will meet again, for the "dead in Christ" will rise, and when she gets her new body, I KNOW, Nonie will still be smiling. Rest in peace, my friend and example. God's word says you're resting with the Lord.
