My Father in Law was as much a father to me as anyone of his children.
I spent my youth as a helper on all types of side work with him, whether it be plumbing,brick work or general construction,and when I was unsure of my life choices, he got me a job and tried to teach me brick laying as a trade. After 2 weeks of an aching back and blisters on top of blisters I went to him with my head down and told him ,maybe its time I go back to school. He smiled at me and said, now that's a good choice.I guess it was a dose of tough love that got me back on track.In the mean time I was learning to do for myself with his guidance.
I will miss those loud family dinners where he sat at my side at the end of the table, and cracked jokes with me about everyone in the room. His sense of humor I will miss the most.
