Father John and I became friends when he came by my fire station to leave us some sweets. I missed him when he dropped it off and called him on his phone to thank him personally and told him to stop by again for coffee and lunch. Fr. John stopped by and he fit right in with me and my firefighters. We would treat him like one of us and he was not exempt from the “jabs.” He told me that he loved that we treated him like “one of the guys.” He was very witty and liked to tell us jokes. Fr. John became close to us all and he will surely be missed. He was our honorary Fire Chaplain for Fire Station 7 in Corpus Christi. Fr. John loved God and served Him till the end. Love you my brother!
