Mike was our neighbor in Florida. Although I did not have the opportunity to know him well, the conversations I had with him clearly showed that he was a caring and considerate individual. He expressed to me how much he loved living in our building and " would pinch himself at how fortunate he was to be here." We were the fortunate ones to have known him. Sending thoughts and prayers to his sister and family. God Bless Mike!

Q: What will you never forget about Michael?
A: When I was feeling tired and exhausted from a long day into the night at work, Mike would say Davey how about an expresso. Mike would pull out the expresso pot and serve it up. That would keep me going. He was a true gentleman and awesome human being.

I met mike when he ordered a Custom Built INDIAN Motorcycle from my shop in Hollister. Mike ordered the bike, and we arranged shipping to New York. A week later Mike showed up in Hollister Ca, unannounced and walked into the showroom and asked for Rey in a thick New York accent, i knew it was Mike! we became instant friends and thru the years became brothers. I am heartbroken, we will miss you "Magic Mike" "Brother Man Mike" "New York Mike. Proud to call you brother, Mike was family. Until we meet again my brother. prayers for your family and friends

Met Michael while we worked together in ACD in 1996.
We quickly became friends. Hung out together in Bay Ridge had fun and many laughters.
Mike was always a Sharp Cop. He knew his cars well and later then transferred to major case where we would go after work in groups and hang out for cocktails and cigars.
A sharp dresser and a true gentleman. I was informed of his passing by a mutual friend, ADA Steve Kramer Rodrigez and shocked and saddened by the news.
RIP Mike.

Michael, you were a wonderful cousin and friend. Someone you could always rely on.We enjoyed when you would share some of the crazy stories of life on the job. You had a way with words and always made us laugh. You had a great outlook on life. Although you were taken from us without warning, know you are extremely loved and will be sincerely missed.

My friend Mike S. and I met Mike and Tony Diaz at the Davidoff cigar lounge in Brooklyn around three years ago. We quickly became friends. We've smoked many a cigar, had many a dinner, and had many laughs together. Without fear of exaggeration, I can say that I've never known a more honest, down to earth, humble, generous man than Michael Dorto. He carried himself with a dignity that you rarely encounter anymore. A truly stand up guy and a man's man.
My heart and condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues.

We met Mike as a neighbor in Naples and we quickly bonded over the fact that my father was also a Detective in Chicago area years ago and I enjoyed listening to Mike’s numerous stories about law enforcement. He also really helped out during the hurricane at my request connecting us with local Naples PD and county police to provide security detail during the post hurricane conditions.
Mike was always smiling quick to engage and a pleasure to know during the past years when he spent time in Naples. We enjoyed a sunset together just last week and we’re still in shock disbelief and deep sorrow about his passing. Our prayers and deep condolences go out to the Dorto family.
