Obituary of William T. Ferraro
William “Billy” Ferraro a career Local 580 Union Ironworker and native Brooklyn, New Yorker passed away May 9, 2023. At the age of 74 after a recent discovery of heart and artery disease.
Billy is survived by his daughters Denise Pagano and Ellen Kresel, son Jay Ferraro and his grandchildren, Lael Brinkley and Julia Pagano, and his partner Laura Suarez.
Billy was born in Brooklyn, NY August 29, 1948 to Maureen and Dr. Samuel Ferraro, he entered the military at the early age of 17 with the Navy and was discharged as a Marine. He married Sharon Goodman 8/28/1973 and welcomed their daughter Denise on 10/01/1974. Billy was working on the Twin Towers when he got the call his baby was on the way. Billy returned to the towers immediately after 9/11 to help with the rescue and recovery effort. Billy returned for the third time and retired his career on the construction of the Freedom Tower. It was a full circle moment.
Billy was a proud union man and a fierce believer in community. He loved his fellow brothers and helped anyone he could. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, was the President of the Iron worker Bike club, avid bow hunter and enjoyed spending time building friendships around a table filled with his favorite people, food and many laughs. He will be deeply missed by his fellow union brothers and all his loved ones
The visitation for William T. Ferraro will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Columba Roman Catholic Church on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10:15 AM - the family will be gathering at the funeral home by 9:15 AM. The Committal Service will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Calvary Cemetery in Woodside Queens, NY.
