Obituary of Mary Birmingham
Mary M. Birmingham of Marine Park passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.
Mary was the devoted daughter of Ed and Mary Hodge Birmingham. She was much loved by her siblings Edwin and Monica, Tommy, Gerry, and the late Joanne, Anne and the late Kevin Byrnes, Peter and Virginia, and Ellen and the late Peter Massaro. Sister of the heart to Elizabeth Rush and Claire Benjamin. Loving "mother" of John and Dawn Salmieri and "grandma" of Matthew.
Mary was the beloved aunt to Diane, Kevin and Pat, Tommy and Maria, Patty, the late Jimmy, Danny, Brian and Natalie, Eddie and Tracy, Laura and Marty, Peter and Cheryl, Brian and Marty, Erin, Megan and Wolf.
She is also the grand aunt to Alyssa, Elizabeth, Taylor, Paige, TJ, Brendan, John, Kevin, Kaitlin, Joanne, Irene, Anastasia, Ella and Emma.
A dedicated believer of social justice, Mary spent her life helping others. She was an Associate Member of the Sisters of Charity of Halifax, as well as a Reiki Master. Whether volunteering at Willowbrook, at the Center for Exceptional Children, doing Reiki for firemen after 9/11, or working a weekend of comfort for people infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS, or the many hotel workers she mentored, she never stopped doing for others.

The visitation for Mary Birmingham will be held at Marine Park Funeral Home on Sunday, August 6, 2023, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and on Monday, August 7, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at 10:30 AM - the family will be gathering at the funeral home by 9:30 AM. The Committal Service will immediately follow the Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery.
