My Obituary to my family,
My father and I didn't have the normal father and son relationship. My father and I began our relationship in my late teen years. We pretty much had to get to know each other and leave the past behind and start a new path beginning as father and son and to a family that welcomed me back with open arms.
My father was an old soul and was very much set in his ways. I would often tease my father and say Grandpa Matthew acted younger than you. My father loved to joke around and was almost never serious even when you wanted him to be. My father was famous for his corny jokes and making up his own crazy languages and would laugh out loud when we would give him strange looks.
My father loved his family and siblings very much. Anytime I needed my father, he was always there for me, and I could always count on him to help me out and drive me nuts at the same time, LOL! My father loved to watch old-time movies like the Three Stooges, Laurel & Hardy, Dean Martin & Jerry Louis, and old-time monster movies, just to name a few. He literally has a video store with hundreds of movies that he would watch over and over.
My father loved the New York Yankees, going on cruises with his family until he couldn't do it anymore. He loved to look at the open ocean, boats and ferries passing by, and peaceful country landscapes and would often talk about his vacations with his siblings in Port Jervis when he was younger.
My father wouldn't want us crying over him, but instead, he would want us to remember him for his loving and crazy self.
Rest in Heavenly Peace Dad, your memory will live on in our hearts, and we will cherish all the wonderful memories we all shared together.
