Obituary of John Tacconi
John Tacconi passed away on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the age of 90. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. John was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Todisco) for 67 years. He was the cherished father of Len and Peter, and a loving father-in-law to Kathy and Diana. John was also an adored grandfather to Kerilyn, Bob (and his wife Esther), Michael (and his wife Melissa), Kristen (and her husband Ben), John (and his wife Amanda), Nicholas, Christopher. He was a great-grandfather to Carter and Isabella. Additionally, he was the dear brother-in-law of Lucille Sorrentino and Diana Cuzzolino.
A Korean War Veteran, John was deployed in July 1953. He proudly served in the 3 rd Marine Corp. Division, 3 rd Battalion. John established Hutchinson Check Cashing Corporation, which he successfully ran for 24 years. He was an active member of the Golden Age Society at St. Columba’s RCC.
John will forever be remembered for his deep sense of family and generous spirit. He was a special man who earned the affection of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Marine Park Funeral Home, Inc., 3024 Quentin Road, Brooklyn, NY 11234.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, September 26 th at 9:15 AM at St. Bernard’s RCC, 2055 East 69 th St., Brooklyn NY 11234, followed by entombment at St. John’s Cemetery, Middle Village.
