Obituary of Luz Aida Rodriguez

Sunrise: 2/10/47   Sunset: 11/17/23

On this day, we absorb the beauty of a soul who finally found her peace. Luz Rodriguez, not WAS, but IS the center of our universe. Like a sunflower, we are drawn to her light and have been blessed with 76 years of her strength and impact. Luz always referred to her children as her garden. Her seeds have produced a pasture of children, who she revolved her life around: Radamez Perez, Naomi Wilson, Raquel Lewis, Randy Rodriguez, Richie Rodriguez, Rafael Gonzalez along with her angel twins Migdalia and Evelyn. Not to mention- her 21 grandchildren/ 37 great grandchildren or as she would say “TOO MANY TO COUNT!” it would make her exhausted…

Luz best would be remembered for her sense of poise and style: Her fitted suits, equipped with stockings, boots & her bible in hand, not to mention her rollers organized by color and shape- this woman was sharp! There was no shortage to her accomplishments in life. Luz never saw the bottom of her own cup when giving, only the promise she could inspire in those around her. Her scowl could set you straight, while her smile, warmed your heart. Fierce and determined she embodied the grace of a mother, the strength of a protector and the nurturing of a provider. Her illness taught us how to make time stand still in her presence and cherish memories with laughter and connection. Luz was once the roots of this family, but now is the leaves that fall, to provide change and new life. Heaven has warmly prepared her place, with a crown of jewels awaiting her return. We may no longer have her in the physical, but her spirit lives in every heartbeat she helped to create. If you are reading this, you have experienced the joy she brings, a JOY like a river, flowing with no end.

The Funeral for Luz Aida Rodriguez will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2023. The funeral procession will form at 9:45 AM and depart the funeral home by 10:00 AM. The Committal Service will be held at Calverton National Cemetery at 12:00 PM.

One night a man had a dream.
In it he was walking along a beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.

When the final scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints,
and realized that they came at the hardest and saddest times of his life.

Bothered about this, he questioned the Lord saying,
"Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most burdensome times in my life,
there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why
when I needed you the most you would leave me."

The Lord replied, "My dear child, I love you and I would never leave you.
During the times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."
